Acclaimed actor Timothée Chalamet stars in the new trailer for A Complete Unknown, a biopic about legendary musician Bob Dylan. Set in the vibrant music scene of 1960s New York, the film follows a young Dylan’s rise to fame as a folk singer, culminating with his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.
Chalamet is joined in the cast by well-established actors Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, and Boyd Holbrook, among others. Earlier this year, footage emerged of Chalamet as Dylan during filming with Norton. The actor was also spotted filming scenes with Monica Barbaro, who portrays Joan Baez in the film.
Director James Mangold confirmed that Chalamet would be singing in A Complete Unknown, a role that showcases his vocal abilities after singing in last year’s Wonka. Mangold praised the film’s depiction of Dylan’s extraordinary rise to fame at such a young age and his transition to using the electric guitar.
In an interview earlier this year, Chalamet revealed that he would love for Austin Butler’s version of Elvis Presley to make an appearance in the film. A Complete Unknown is set to debut in cinemas in January 2025. Watch the trailer to see Chalamet’s portrayal of Dylan and hear his rendition of the song “A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall.”
