The Weeknd has recently given fans a teaser of his newest track in an Instagram post. The Canadian pop star’s snippet was over two minutes long and also featured a cinematic teaser. He has also quoted Friedrich Nietzsche in the caption: “When you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”
The teaser is for the musician’s third chapter of the “After Hours” and “Dawn FM” trilogy. The Weeknd’s show in Brazil, where he will showcase a “never before seen production,” will unveil three chapters, hinting that new releases will be debuted in São Paulo.
The Weeknd has been hinting about new music since January, stating his upcoming record would be the last volume of the “After Hours” and “Dawn FM” trilogy. Earlier this year, “Blinding Lights,” his hit single, became the first song in history to hit 4 billion streams on Spotify.
The single is named Spotify’s most-streamed song of all time on the After Hours album. In just over 100 weeks, the track stayed on the charts and set new records for the most periods at #5 (43 weeks), #10 (57 weeks), and #40 (86 weeks), replacing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist” as Billboard Hot 100’s biggest US single of all time.
