The latest single to come from the posthumous SOPHIE album, which is set to be released on September 27th, is called “Berlin Nightmare.” This is following on from the first single that was released in June, “Reason Why,” which features Kim Petras and BC Kingdom. The new track features the Athens-based DJ, producer, and vocalist Evita Manji and is darker in tone than SOPHIE’s typically club-oriented music.
Fans first became aware of the new track when the social media account behind the SOPHIE album campaign, MSMSMSM FOREVER, revealed the track yesterday, July 23rd. The post stated, “Berlin Nightmare feat. Evita Manji out now,” alongside an image of the single’s artwork. Fans suspect that SOPHIE debuted the new track at the 2019 Unsound Festival performance.
This new album, which has been named after SOPHIE, marks the dance music pioneer’s second full-length album and is the first album that the artist would produce following her tragic passing in 2021. In a press statement released last month, SOPHIE’s family confirmed that the album had been “close to completion” before the artist’s death and has since been completed by the late producer’s friends and family.
“SOPHIE” is currently being finalised by friends and family of the late producer to ensure it becomes a fitting tribute to the artist. SOPHIE’s girlfriend, Evita Manji, spoke out about her tragic passing, saying, “Today I lost my everything. I can feel your energy everywhere around and inside me, you’re guiding me through this and calm me down like you would always do.
