IU, the South Korean singer-actress, has recently revealed how her flight to Washington D.C. was cancelled, and she nearly missed a stop on her 2024 ‘HEREH’ world tour. IU is currently on the North American leg of her tour, which marked her first time performing headlining shows in the US since her debut. She performed in Washington D.C. on July 22 at the Capital One Arena.
During the concert, IU shared the story of how she got to the venue. Her flight from Atlanta was cancelled due to a global IT outage that occurred earlier last week. She said, “My flight got suddenly cancelled, and for the first time in my life, I drove – technically, the driver drove me – through the night for 10 hours on the highway.” Despite the inconvenience, she happily stated that it was ‘totally worth it’ after hearing the audience’s cheers.
Following her concert in Washington D.C., the singer has only three more stops left on the tour’s North American leg: one on July 25 in Rosemont, Illinois, one on July 30 in Oakland, California and a final show in Los Angeles on August 2. IU’s massive 2024 ‘HEREH’ world tour kicked off on March 2 at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, South Korea.
The tour is in support of IU’s most recent project, her sixth mini-album titled ‘The Winning,’ which released in late February this year. The album contained two title tracks: ‘Shopper’ and ‘Holssi.’ The accompanying music video for ‘Shopper’ was narrated and produced by DPR Ian, who also made an appearance. She played four concerts over two weekends in Seoul, which featured special appearances from NewJeans, Park Bo-gum, and more.
Despite the significantly impacted music industry due to the global pandemic, IU has managed to stay strong and keep up with her music career. Her story of determination to make her concert in D.C. expresses a deeper understanding of the hard work put into her passion
