Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff arena hosted the “biggest hard techno event ever” this past weekend, with Verknipt, one of the world’s most well-known techno promoters, organising the 11-and-a-half-hour rave that welcomed over 40,000 techno enthusiasts. The party featured performances by numerous hard techno stalwarts, including Cynthia Spiering, Franky-B, and Ketting. The festival’s opening lineup, which featured the artists in a b3b, set the pace for what would become an enormous throwdown.
Other notable performances throughout the night included Shlømo, who launched his new track “Meet Me In São Paolo”, Sara Landry whose powerful bangers kept the energy high, and DIØN, who dropped his forthcoming rework of “Traffic”. Additionally, Onlynumbers, CARV, Basswell, Alignment, Dyen, Oguz, 6ejou, Raxeller, and Karah provided sets throughout the night, culminating in a high-octane closing set by Fantasm.
The event has showcased how hard techno has had a significant uptick in popularity within electronic dance music circles. The once niche genre has demonstrated its ability to appeal to massive audiences in stadiums. Verknipt ArenA, the festival’s organisers, are now releasing a commemorative hard techno album featuring Verknipt Records, where the most exceptional and upcoming names showcase their talent.
