Josh Homme vows to “roll his sleeves up” so next Queens Of The Stone Age album doesn’t take so long

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has revealed that the band is hard at work on new material for their next album. In an interview on the Dish podcast, Homme stated that he was eager to get started on new music so that fans wouldn’t have to wait too long for the follow-up to 2020’s In Times New Roman.

According to Homme, one of the main reasons for starting work on new material so soon after the band’s last release is because he didn’t want to leave fans waiting for long periods of time again. He said, “There was too much time in between the last record and this one… The goal is to make things and enjoy that process and so I’m going to roll up my sleeves and jump right into this.”

Homme also mentioned his appreciation for Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, stating that Grohl had done more for him in his career than anyone else. He called Grohl a “brother” and said that he had always been there for him throughout his time in the music industry.

The announcement of a new album follows hints from drummer Jon Theodore and guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen earlier this year that the band had been working on new material. Homme had also previously stated in a December 2020 interview with NME that the band would be making more music soon.

In related news, Queens of the Stone Age were forced to cancel several European tour dates recently due to Homme needing emergency surgery. While the nature of the surgical procedure is unclear, the band has apologized for any inconvenience caused and indicated that they hope to be back on stage soon
