Butcher Babies announce departure of singer Carla Harvey

Co-lead vocalist Carla Harvey has left the metal band Butcher Babies, according to a post on the band’s Instagram page. The confirmation followed fans noticing the singer’s absence from the group’s social media posts for about six months. Butcher Babies thanked Harvey for her “unique talent, passion and energy” and wished her “all the best in her future endeavors”, adding they were “excited for this new era” of the band. Harvey joined Butcher Babies years ago alongside co-vocalist Heidi Shepherd.

Posting on her own Instagram account, Harvey said after “15 years of dedication” she would not be rejoining Butcher Babies. “I have loved every second of writing and performing all over the world for you,” she told fans. The Butcher Babies were co-founded in 2010 by Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd and most recently released two albums, Eye For An Eye… and Till The World’s Blind, on the same day in 2023.

Earlier this year, Harvey and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante got engaged during a U2 concert in Las Vegas.  

Other musicians like Pantera’s Rex Brown, Slayer’s Gary Holt, and Misfits’ Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein sent Harvey and Benante messages of congratulations
