The two people killed in a car versus motorbike accident which also claimed the lives of two girls and their parents have been identified. According to West Yorkshire Police, Christopher and Janine Barton passed away due to the collision on the A61 between Wakefield and Barnsley on Sunday. The nine-year-old Rubie Morgan-Roller and her sister, four-year-old Lillie Morgan-Roller, were killed alongside their mother Shannen Morgan and father Shane Roller while travelling in a Ford Focus when the crash happened between Staincross and Newmillerdam at approximately 15:55 BST. The family were all travelling in the car at the time of the accident.

The couple, Mr Barton, 56 and Mrs Barton, 48 had just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. In a tribute statement drafted by the police, their son described the couple as “a loving, caring mum, and dad who always put me before everything else.” The forensic team is still investigating the scene, so the A61 remains closed. According to the father of Mr Roller, his son and Ms Morgan were excellent parents.

“Shane Roller, Shannen Morgan and two beautiful little granddaughters, Rubie and Lillie, were lost when their car crashed. Shane wasn’t just a son but an amazing father, and he had a heart of gold. Shannen, our daughter-in-law, was funny and an amazing mum, and they thought the world of their little family.” The couple’s eldest daughter, aged 11, was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Less than 48 hours after Paul Hepple, the family’s friend, set up a GoFundMe campaign, over £280,000 has already been raised for the family’s eldest daughter. Mr. Hepple disclosed that the youngster has “lost her whole world in an instant” and the donation would “ensure she has a stable, loving environment where she can heal and grow.” The details are yet to be updated, and this is a developing story.
