Yu Su to launch Shanghai-based music festival, OUHE

The launch of a new festival, OUHE, in Shanghai this coming fall has been confirmed by DJ, producer, and former Mixmag cover star Yu Su. The festival will run over three days and Yu Su is host, marking her first time running an event in China. The date of the festival is September 29 to October 3, with the lineup yet to be announced.

The artist has joined forces with DJ and Elevator Club co-founder, Mau Mau, Chinese producer Knopha, and multidisciplinary artist Youpo to curate and develop the festival’s creative direction. It will take place in a former Shanghai abattoir, Slaughterhouse 1933, which has been converted into a shopping mall, theatre, and entertainment complex and still maintains its art deco columns and structure.

Beginning on September 29, the festival will open with an ambient performance that will run alongside two days of DJs who are yet to be announced on October 2 and 3. To celebrate the festival’s announcement, Yu Su has produced an OUHE-themed Spotify playlist that gives a taste of what’s to come over the three-day festival.

Yu Su has performed in different parts of the US and Europe before joining forces to develop and run OUHE. Though this is her first event in Shanghai, an outsider perspective has described her electronic music as fearless and free. The announcement signals more great things to come from the artist who’s demonstrated immense creativity and passion for promoting live music performances
