RZA, a member of the legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, has announced the release of his latest album called ‘A Ballet Through Mud.’ The album will feature an orchestral soundtrack meant to accompany the ballet of the same name. Platoon will release the album on August 30. The record label had revealed the information about the release in a statement from RZA last Friday. RZA, who rediscovered this project during the pandemic, transformed the lyrics from his teenage songbooks into the final ballet soundtrack.
The ‘A Ballet Through Mud’ was produced by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra during its 2023 production and will be performed on the forthcoming album. The lyrics follow a coming-of-age story about love and growth. In a statement, RZA explained that he has been his whole life composing the album. “The inspiration for ‘A Ballet Through Mud’ comes from my earliest creative output as a teenager, but its themes are universal – love, exploration, and adventure,” he says.
The same year as ‘A Ballet Through Mud,’ RZA hired the same orchestral ensemble for a series of ‘36 Chambers’ symphony performances. Talking about the album, RZA hopes it inspires people to be inspired and let their imaginations take them into a different chamber, even for a moment. Last month, it was revealed that Wu-Tang Clan’s infamous ‘Once Upon A Time In Shaolin’ has been turned into an NFT. Buyers who purchase an NFT of the album have access to an album sampler, and increasing the record’s release 88 seconds at a time.
The tracklist for the ‘A Ballet Through Mud,’ according to Rolling Stone, is as follows: ‘Aeolian Beauty’, ‘Clear Sky After Storm’, ‘Ballet Through Mud’, ‘Divine Intervention’, ‘Freedom of Movement’, ‘Soft Footsteps’, ‘Goodnight’, ‘The Night Dances When You Least Expect It’, ‘Moving Meditation’, and ‘The Lotus Arrives.’ RZA hopes people use the album to score their lives, transform a drive to the grocery store or sharing a meal, among other things, into something magical
