Rob Reiner, the director of the beloved 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, has confirmed that the much-anticipated sequel is going “good.” The film is expected to be screened for family and friends in August before being shown to distributors in September. Reiner hopes that the movie will be released sometime in late spring or early summer of 2025. He has previously stated that filming is currently wrapping up in New Orleans.

All three actors and Reiner are expected to return for This Is Spinal Tap II. Reiner will also revive his role as the fictional director Marty DiBergi within the film. Other names confirmed for the movie include Fran Drescher, Paul Shaffer, John Michael Higgins, Chris Addison, Kerry Godliman, and Nina Conti.
