Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall shares “shape-shifting” debut solo single, ‘Angel Of My Dreams’

Former Little Mix member, Jade Thirlwall, has released her debut solo single named ‘Angel of My Dreams’ following the group’s hiatus in 2022. The three-minute pop track was written in Los Angeles alongside Steph Jones, Pablo Bowman and producer Mike Sabbath. In the song’s opening verse, Thirlwall talks about her love/hate relationship with the music industry in a shape-shifting banger. Thirlwall drew inspiration from her journey and wanted the song to sound quite chaotic since she felt that 3 and a half minutes were hardly enough to convey her story.

The music video for ‘Angel of My Dreams’ takes us on an emotional journey of Thirlwall’s past studded with 11 different looks. The cameo appearance of Grian Chatten in the video wearing a lime green tracksuit is noteworthy since he showed up in the same outfit in Fontaines D.C.’s single, ‘Starburster’. The concept of the music video is made in a rags-to-riches approach, and the scene featuring Chatten walking into Thirlwall’s video shoot and changing into an all-white outfit and angel wings was also featured in the band’s video.

Thirlwall talked to Capital about her love/hate relationship with the industry and shared how ‘Angel of My Dreams’ was a culmination of her feelings. She had originally intended for the song to sound like a loving relationship that was toxic, but she decided against it to let the audience know what the song was about in the verses. Her former bandmates, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards, have already released their debut solo singles earlier this year and are making headway in the industry. Meanwhile, Pinnock will embark on her first headline tour in venues across the UK and Ireland this October.

The release of ‘Angel of My Dreams’ shows Thirlwall taking her first steps towards her solo project. Music aficionados and fans eagerly await what the artist has to offer in the future, and Jade Thirlwall is slowly but surely carving her niche in the music industry.
