The Warehouse Project launches WHP Records with independent label Disorder

The Warehouse Project has joined forces with independent label, Disorder, to launch its very own club-focused record label, WHP Records. The label has already announced its first album release from groundbreaking artist, Bakey, who is a WHP resident. It is likely this announcement will result in a significant increase in laptop sales as music lovers prepare to add the new album to their digital library. ‘Wouldn’t Believe’ is available now, with more details on the album expected to be announced soon.

WHP Records plans to release new music from “noteworthy talent” throughout the year, with the intention of being an incubator for emerging and exciting talent from around the globe. There is a strong history between the founders of The Warehouse Project, Richard McGinnis and Sam Kandel, and the music industry. They explained that their passion for creating meaningful and impactful moments for artists is what underpins their involvement in the record label. They are especially excited about this album project from Bakey as the perfect place to begin this new venture.

Disorder Records was launched in 2023 by David Dollimore, the former President of Ministry of Sound, who aimed to work with DJs, producers, artists, brands and labels to promote the best of emerging and existing talent. This ethos has resonated with The Warehouse Project team, who believe the pedigree of the partnership is unparalleled within the industry. The future is looking bright for independent record companies like WHP Records, according to Dollimore.

Sacha Lord, co-founder of WHP with Kandel and McGinnis in 2006, announced on July 18 that he will be stepping back from his roles at The Warehouse Project and Parklife after 20 years. Lord will continue with his role as Night Time Economy Advisor to Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, as well as his position as Chair of the Night Time Industries Association.
