Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass deletes his Trump apology post

Kyle Gass, a member of the rock band Tenacious D, has deleted a post apologizing for comments he made regarding a recent assassination attempt on former US president Donald Trump. The controversial remarks were made during a show the band played in Sydney, Australia on July 14th. Following the comments, an Australian politician called for the duo to be deported and there were reports that Gass had been dropped by his talent agency.

Initially, Gass wrote on Instagram apologizing for the “highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake” he made during the show. However, the post has since been removed. The band has also cancelled the remainder of their tour and are currently on hiatus following statements from Jack Black, Gass’ bandmate. Black stated that he would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form and felt it was no longer appropriate to continue the tour or make any future creative plans.

Many figures in the entertainment world reacted to the recent assassination attempt on Trump, including 50 Cent, M.I.A., Kid Rock, and Freddie Gibbs. There were also online memes and supportive messages from fans of Lana Del Rey. 50 Cent is rumoured to be making an appearance at the Republican National Convention this week after Trump was formally nominated as the GOP presidential candidate on July 15th.

Representatives for Kyle Gass have not provided a comment on the deleted post or the recent controversy. Tenacious D were scheduled to play another six shows in Australia and New Zealand before embarking on a North American tour in October
