MUNA’s Katie Gavin announces debut solo single, ‘Aftertaste’

Pop trio MUNA’s Katie Gavin has announced the release of her debut solo single, ‘Aftertaste’. The singer has been giving fans a sneak preview of the song on her TikTok account, and the full track is due to be released on Tuesday, July 23rd. Gavin has announced on social media that the song can be pre-saved ahead of its release next week.

The single is guitar-based and features a gentle acoustic melody over which Gavin sings emotively. Lyrics include, “My hair got long, your hair got cut/ You wear the same old sweater/ It’s good to see you, we’re catching up/ We’re talking ‘bout the weather”, which are then built upon by the subsequent chorus.

MUNA, formed of Gavin along with Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson, have released three successful studio albums to date. Their most recent, self-titled album was released earlier this year via the label Saddest Factory Records, owned by Phoebe Bridgers. Bridgers features on ‘Silk Chiffon’, a single from this latest album.

The trio, who hail from Los Angeles, recently released a live album entitled ‘Live At The Greek Theatre In Los Angeles’. Despite the success of MUNA so far, this new solo venture by Gavin only heightens excitement for what’s to come from this talented group of musicians in the future
