Fans react as ‘Halo’ series is cancelled after two seasons: “So much potential”

The television series based on the popular video game franchise “Halo” has been cancelled by Paramount after two seasons, the company has confirmed. The project had been in development since 2013, when it was first announced at the Xbox E3 presentation. It premiered in 2022 on Paramount+, with a second season airing earlier this year. However, the show will not be returning.

In a statement, Paramount said it was “extremely proud” of the series but wouldn’t be moving forward with a third season. It added: “We wish everyone the best going forward.” Responding to the news, some fans expressed their frustration that the show was cancelled after beginning to pick up steam, while others were critical of how far it strayed from the source material.

Xbox and 343 Industries, which owns the rights to the “Halo” franchise, plan to try and get the show picked up by another platform. “We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future,” 343 Industries said in a statement.

In the meantime, gaming giant Activision has announced a WWE crossover for both “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” and “Call of Duty: Warzone”. No further details have been released
