Lady Gaga fans furious about Emmys snub: “It’s criminal”

The 2024 Emmy nominations were announced on Saturday, July 17, with Lady Gaga fans expressing disappointment at her failure to secure any nods for her TV special, Gaga Chromatica Ball. The self-produced and directed special documented her 2022 Dodger Stadium performance in Los Angeles in support of her latest album, Chromatica.

Lady Gaga’s supporters have since taken to social media to express their frustration, with one fan calling the omission “criminal.” It’s a snub that has not gone unnoticed, with some upset about the focus on more mainstream content over the artistry and creativity of Gaga’s performance.

Despite the disappointment for Gaga’s fans, the Emmy nominations were led by FX’s Shogun with a leading 25 nominations, followed by The Bear with 23, Only Murders In The Building with 21, True Detective: Night Country with 19, and The Crown with 18 nominations.

This year’s 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, held on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, honor the very best in American television, covering the time from June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024. The event will be broadcast on ABC in the United States and there is no host announced as of yet.

The 2023 Emmys were postponed due to the Hollywood strikes and moved to January this year. The Bear and Succession emerged as the night’s biggest winners, with six and seven awards, respectively. The shows named as the best TV of 2024 so far by NME are also represented among this year’s nominees. These include Baby Reindeer, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Fallout.
