Drake’s mansion in Toronto has been hit by severe flooding due to heavy rains that have swept the city recently. The Grammy-award winning rapper shared footage of the flooding on his Instagram stories, showing brown rainwater entering his home and damaging his possessions. The mansion, known as ‘The Embassy’, made headlines earlier this year when an intruder was arrested for attempting to break into the property, just a day after a shooting took place outside the residence.
The rains caused widespread flooding in the city with many homes, highways, and transport hubs inundated. According to reports, even police and firefighters were called out to help various locals stranded due to severe weather, including 14 people who were left trapped on a highway. Over 109,000 residents were left without power across the city due to the extreme weather conditions.
Drake had recently given fans the chance to take a virtual tour of his mansion through a new feature on his merch website, drakerelated.com. The website’s layout revamped to showcase an interactive virtual tour of ‘The Embassy’ among the graphics depicting Drake’s house, Easter eggs, and links to buy his merch, including his new poetry book Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness.
DJ Akademiks has also confirmed that Drake has new music “on the way” amid his feud with rapper Kendrick Lamar. Drake’s last full-length release was 2023’s For All The Dogs, which was given a two-star review by NME. “In the hours shortly before the album dropped, Drake announced that he would take a break from music to focus on his health,” it read. “‘I probably won’t make music for a little bit,’ he told fans. ‘I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit.’ Hopefully he returns revitalised and renewed, because ‘For All The Dogs’ – his third solo LP in as many years – not only feels tiring but sounds tired too.”
