Stanley Park, one of Liverpool’s most well-known parks, will host its first weekly market this summer. The historic Grade II* listed park will see around 50 stalls offering a vast range of items, including crafts, fashion, fresh produce and accessories. A food and drinks area will also be in place for visitors. The market will take place on Wednesdays, starting from 24 July through to 4 September, at 9 am to 3 pm each week.
Along with buying locally-sourced goods, visitors will have the chance to take advantage of the information stands available at the event, with each offering information about various health- and community-related issues during the seven weeks. Richard Kemp, Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, will officially open the market on the first day.
It has been a few years since the City Council held a weekday, outdoor retail market. The event aims to be a big success, bringing back regular outdoor markets and being a vital part of Liverpool’s diversified markets offer. The community hopes that the market will help to make neighbourhoods feel more associated with each other.
This free-to-enter market is the latest addition to the long-established and popular city-wide markets offer. It is hoped that the Stanley Park market will receive the same enthusiastic response as the recent market held at St. George’s Hall. Due to the significant success of the event, which displayed some of the best, independent local businesses and enticed nearly 3000 people on a single day, the council added two more event dates to its calendar: on Sunday 6 October and Sunday 3 November
