Marina, who is also known as Marina Diamandis, has announced that she is working on her sixth album, which will be launched next year. The singer made the announcement after supporting Kylie Minogue in Hyde Park’s BST on 13 July. Speaking to Attitude, Marina expressed how much she loves doing her new album. And also hinted on Twitter about new music with a tweet that said, “album six.” She also talked about her poetry book called Eat The World that will be published by Penguin Random House on 29 October.
Marina was careful to emphasize the two projects have nothing to do with each other in the Attitude interview, adding that the book “exists on its own thing” due to her being unable to focus on more than one project at a time. She prefers committing fully to one project and then moving on to the next thing. “I’ll be doing some fun promo around it; lots of podcasts. There’s lots to talk about,” she said.
Marina also reflected on her experience opening for Kylie Minogue, who invited her to open for her, at BST Hyde Park. “It was amazing! I love her as a human, and the crowd was pretty loving. Kylie has been one of my icons since I was 15 years old. I’ve been listening to her a lot the last year. I think we manifested this gig!” she said.
Since breaking out in 2009 under the name Marina and the Diamonds, Marina has released five albums, the latest of which is 2021’s Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land. Marina has confirmed that the album was motivated by political factors and sees her take less interest in gaining chart success than in her previous releases, stating: “I do feel like that ship has sailed. I’ve had those moments, but as an artist, that’s not really what excites me anymore. It’s more like, ‘What am I interested in at the time? And what do I want to explore in my songs?’”
With the announcement of her new sixth album, fans of Marina can eagerly anticipate hearing new material from the singer’s upcoming record
