Over the weekend, 40 people were arrested during Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival, with a 13-year-old girl amongst the 21 arrested on the festival site. Another 19 people were arrested near the festival entrance during the three-day festival which began on Friday July 12 and had headline performances from Calvin Harris, Gerry Cinnamon and Liam Gallagher. More than 50,000 people attended TRNSMT each day.
Offences included breach of peace, sexual assault, disorder and drug charges. The 13-year-old girl was arrested on Sunday July 14th and was among the 15 total arrests made that day. Two teenage boys were prevented by festival security from scaling the fence over two consecutive days in an attempt to break into the site.
On Friday and Saturday, 25 arrests were made and one of them involved a 15-year-old boy. Meanwhile, police are searching for two men who are thought to have been involved in a serious assault that left a 16-year-old boy in hospital with serious injuries. The teenager has since been placed in a medically induced coma following the incident which occurred in front of the Ferris wheel on the festival site at around 3:10pm on Saturday. The teenager is being treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.
Detective Sgt Stephen Greenshields urged anyone with information to come forward, “numerous people will have witnessed this incident, and we would urge anyone with any information that could assist with our inquiries to come forward.” The police are still looking for two men who were involved in the attack, and it remains to be seen if there will be any further developments in this case.
