Taylor Swift faced some unfortunate challenges during her Eras tour show this weekend in Milan. While performing a mashup of surprise songs on Saturday, Swift swallowed a bug causing her to pause the show momentarily. She explained to the crowd that she knew it would happen because of the number of bugs present and coughed to dislodge the insect from her throat.
However, Swift faced a more significant challenge on Sunday when she discovered her piano was not working correctly. While mashing up “Getaway Car” with “Out Of The Woods,” she realized that her piano wasn’t sounding right. Swift fixed the issue with the help of a crew member, but she quipped that they finally broke the instrument.
Swift is currently on the European leg of her career-spanning Eras tour. The tour, which began in June, is set to end in December. A fan of Swift in the Melbourne audience described her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, as having some pitfalls that are all the more disappointing, but that she has proven time and time again she can do better.
Despite the challenges, NME gave Swift’s Eras tour show a glowing five-star review. The tour has managed to cultivate a community among fans, with strangers swapping friendship bracelets, laughing and crying together, and embracing the tour’s in-jokes and lore. Swift has managed to craft a marvel of a show that comes with a beating heart, inspiring both the renaming of a Scottish Loch and countless fans to come out and embrace being a part of the Eras family
