Police in the UK have begun a third search for the remains of Muriel McKay, who was the victim of the country’s first kidnap for ransom case over 54 years ago. McKay, aged 55, was held hostage for £1m at a farm in Hertfordshire by two individuals who had mistaken her for Anna Murdoch, the then-wife of newspaper tycoon, Rupert Murdoch. The body of McKay has never been located.
McKay’s daughter Dianne, 84, and her grandson, Mark Dyer, convinced the police to begin another search of the farm after making contact with Nizamodeen Hosein, one of two brothers convicted for the crime. Hosein was deported to Trinidad and Tobago after serving his sentence, and although he previously showed McKay’s family where he recalled burying her body, there was no success.
