Fat Dog’s latest single ‘Wither’ has been released ahead of their debut studio album ‘Woof’, expected for release on September 6th through Domino. The track is described to contain the intoxicating energy of the band’s live shows. The accompanying video was directed by Ryan Vautier and has a retro 90s video game inspired design alongside in-game references to the band’s on-stage performances.
Regarding the music video, Vautier expressed wanting it to feel like a real PS1 or 2 game from his childhood, which would match Fat Dog’s chaotic energy. ‘Woof’ was produced by Joe Love, James Ford, and Jimmy Robertson, who has previously produced a number of well-known artists including Arctic Monkeys and Haim, amongst others. In terms of the band’s influence, Bicep, I.R.O.K, Kamasi Washington, and Russian EDM outfit Little Big have been cited.
Fat Dog spoke to NME for a Cover interview in which the band voiced how special their group dynamic is. Hughes claims that “sometimes, we all look at each other on stage, and quietly recognise that we’re playing a really good gig. It’s an amazing feeling.” Fat Dog will be performing at Latitude 2024 this upcoming week followed by a UK and Ireland headline tour in November. The band will also tour North America this autumn.
‘Wither’ comes after several other songs including ‘Running’, ‘I Am The King’, ‘All The Same’, and ‘King Of The Slugs’. These singles have been received well, with ‘Woof’ being one of the most eagerly anticipated up and coming albums. The band’s upcoming performances are sure to be quite the spectacle while creating more hype around their debut album release
