The festival-goers of Mad Cool Festival 2024 were treated to another night of spectacular performances from various artists. Headliners included Black Pumas, Alvvays, and local up-and-comer Julia Sabaté. Attendees were clearly savouring the last moments of the festival, making the most of every performance.
Team NME also enjoyed the festivities. They spent the evening darting between the stages, following anything that caught their attention. The festival’s success has been made possible by the tireless work of the event staff, the stage hands, and the artists.
Sabaté’s performance on the Mahou 0.0 Tostada stage was particularly impressive. The Spanish-Dutch singer-songwriter brought a feel-good energy and lively club vibes to the set. Sabaté expressed her excitement at making her debut at the festival, which was infectious and well-received amongst the crowd.
Alvvays, a band hailing from Canada felt like a perfect fit for the muted yet dynamic climate of their homeland. The group’s moody dream-pop music was played under the scorching sun of Madrid, but it didn’t distract the band from delivering a fantastic performance. Singing hits like ‘Archie, Marry Me’ and ‘Adult Diversion’ amid screams and yelps delighted the energetic audience. The group departed with the performance of ‘Easy On Your Own’ eliciting a bittersweet note.
Jayda G provided a perfect set for those looking to party on day three. The Canadian producer’s evening set spun the fans into a trance as soon as she hit the decks. With a little help from psychedelic visuals, Jayda built up the energy with funky disco and summer house tracks, climaxing to a memorable dance floor experience.
The festival’s final day featured remarkable performances by Tom Morello, who played hits from Audioslave and Rage Against The Machine, and Sum 41, whose uplifting performance highlighted their career. The festival’s closing act, Jessie Ware, thrilled her audience with a disco-imbued setlist of fan favourites.
