TRNSMT just as much fun as Glastonbury, say Sugababes

The iconic girl group Sugababes has made a triumphant return to the stage, delighting fans at Scotland’s biggest festival, TRNSMT. The three original members, Siobhan Donaghy, Keisha Buchanan, and Mutya Buena, performed hit after hit to a crowd of 50,000 people, declaring that the festival has been “just as much fun as Glastonbury.” Speaking to BBC News, Keisha expressed the band’s gratitude for the positive reaction in Glasgow and praised the updated festival scene for featuring a diverse range of genres that appeals to younger listeners.

TRNSMT takes place over three days, with Liam Gallagher, Calvin Harris, and Gerry Cinnamon headlining. Other acts on the opening day included Garbage, the Snuts, and Example. Although rail operator ScotRail warned of reduced services, fans turned out in high spirits, with some travelling from as far as Bristol to attend.

TRNSMT festival replaced T in the Park in 2016, and this year’s event is the seventh instalment. Sugababes wrapped up their set by revealing their plans to release a new album soon. While they may have had to contend with reduced train services, fans were treated to sunny weather and an electrifying atmosphere as they danced and sang the night away.

The Snuts received a hero’s welcome when they appeared on the Main Stage, with fans bouncing from the start. Meanwhile, the smaller King Tut’s stage offered a more laid-back vibe. Across the festival, acts like Picture Perfect and Jalen Ngonda drew enthusiastic crowds, excited to watch the varied line-up of performers.

BBC One and BBC Scotland will present festival highlights every night, while full performances will also be available on the iPlayer. BBC Radio 1 and Radio Scotland will also broadcast live from the festival, featuring acts like Chase & Status, Natasha Bedingfield, Courteeners, CMAT, and Enter Shikari. Even if you couldn’t make it to TRNSMT, you’re sure to enjoy the sounds of this event from the comfort of your home
