Katy Perry recently spoke about her upcoming album, ‘143’, which she described as a “dance party and everyone’s invited”. The album was announced on July 10th and is set for release on September 20th. In an interview with Zane Lowe on his Apple Music radio show, Perry shared that ‘143’ is her angel number and symbol. She explained that she started seeing the number when her family was going through a tough time medically and found it comforting, like it was code for “I love you”. Perry also shared that she believes it was her angels and guides saying that they loved her and that they had her back.
Perry has released snippets from her songs ‘Gorgeous’ and ‘Lifetime’. ‘Gorgeous’ is an upbeat pop track that features Perry singing about her physical attraction to a love interest. The song has a catchy chorus and bouncy beats, along with an electronic sound. ‘Lifetime’, on the other hand, is a ballad with a slower beat. Perry’s voice is soft and emotive as she sings about her love and commitment to her partner.
‘143’ will be Perry’s sixth studio album and follows the release of her fifth, ‘Smile’, last year. The album’s first single, ‘Woman’s World’, was released in advance of the album’s official announcement. The video for the single saw Perry dress up as Rosie the Riveter and a bionic woman. Perry has also shared previews of ‘I’m His, He’s Mine’, ‘Gimme Gimme’ featuring 21 Savage, and ‘Nirvana’.
Last December, it was reported that Perry was working on her most personal album yet, to be released in 2024. Plans for a world tour were also said to be in the works. Perry’s ‘Smile’ album received mixed reviews from critics, with some expressing disappointment in its lack of energy and fire compared to her previous work. With ‘143’ set to release soon, fans are eagerly anticipating what Perry has in store for them
