Rejoice, fans of Catfish and the Bottlemen! The Welsh band returned to the stage last night for their first show in three years. The huge concert took place at Liverpool’s Sefton Park, where they performed their biggest headline show to date to more than 32,000 fans. The Mysterines and Sundara Karma joined Catfish and the Bottlemen as their support acts.
The band’s return was made all the more special given the uncertainty surrounding their line-up. It marked their first show since guitarist Johnny “Bondy” Bond departed from the group in 2022, leaving frontman Van McCann and Benji Blakeway as the remaining members.
Catfish and the Bottlemen certainly knew how to get the crowd going for their long-awaited return. They played a set that included classics such as ‘Kathleen’, ‘Twice’, and ‘Cocoon’, as well as new material. The band had previously teased the release of their comeback single ‘Showtime’ by posting a six-second snippet of the track on their social media channels back in February. The single was also made available on a white 7” vinyl pressing along with new merchandise.
Fans of the band are in for a treat. Their debut album ‘The Balcony’ will receive a 10th anniversary edition release. Fans can expect a 7” singles box set, as well as cassette, vinyl, and CD versions. Additionally, Catfish and the Bottlemen are due to head out for a North American tour later this year.
The band will travel across the US with their tour kicking off October 4 in Austin, Texas, with several dates scheduled across the country before concluding in Washington D.C. on November 3.Tickets are available online now
