K-pop group ENHYPEN has released their new album ‘Romance: Untold’, which explores the concept of eternal, vampire-like love. The album delves deeper into the internal conflict of embracing love despite knowing that the pain of losing is eternal. The opening track ‘Moonstruck’ finds the band in the midst of this eternal promise, with sensual alt-R&B building on a tantalizing game of push and pull. Another track, ‘Hundred Broken Hearts’, is inspired by old-school R&B and urges the listener to defy the conventional tropes of romance and fight against fate to achieve their desired ending.

‘Brought The Heat Back’ is another striking track on the album, a funky dance-pop earworm produced with Cirkut, who also worked on the group’s 2023 single ‘Bite Me’. The upbeat energy of ‘Brought The Heat Back’ stands in contrast to the gloomy vibes of the album’s teasers. The lead single ‘XO (Only If You Say Yes)’ encapsulates the feeling of puppy love, while ‘Your Eyes Only’ is an easy listen and filled with references to past discography and lyrics.

The album also has a few missteps, such as the mid-tempo number ‘Royalty’, which is stuck with an annoying chorus. Meanwhile, the drum ‘n’ bass of ‘Paranormal’ feels like an awkward addition to the tracklist. However, ENHYPEN closes out the album with ‘Highway 1009’, their first-ever fan song. All members contributed to the lyrics, and Heesung produced the track. The song is personal and focused on the band’s devotion to their fans despite the darkness that pervades their world.

‘Romance: Untold’ was released on July 12, 2024, under Belift Lab. The album shows ENHYPEN’s growth and willingness to embrace new sounds while remaining true to their vampire-like love concept. The group’s commitment to their craft and their fans shines through in this album, making it a must-listen for K-pop fans and fans of the group
