Lady Blackbird will support Moby as a special guest during his UK and European ‘Play’ tour. The musician recently revealed the acclaimed soul-jazz singer-songwriter who he worked with for his 2024 LP ‘Always Centered At Night’ and 2023’s ‘Resound NYC’ would serve as the opening act during the tour. The UK and European tour, which will be the electronic artist’s first in a decade, is set to take place this September to celebrate 25 years of his fifth studio album. Moby considers himself the “luckiest musician in the world” to be going on tour with Lady Blackbird as she is incredibly inspiring.
Lady Blackbird echoed Moby’s sentiments by saying, “I’m so excited to announce that I will be joining him on tour, where we shall all be centered at night.” The two musicians started their creative, collaborative relationship through a project with Reginald and Bagel. Moby was delighted to have Lady Blackbird alongside him during his tour. Lady Blackbird’s voice, presence, and creativity had left a powerful impact on Moby, which had resulted in their collaboration on his latest projects.
Moby recently added a new tour date to his UK and European tour at the O2 Apollo in Manchester. The tour’s profits will go towards European animal rights organizations. The acclaimed fifth studio album that the tour celebrates, ‘Play’, was released in 1999. It features classic hits such as ‘Porcelain,’ ‘Natural Blues,’ and ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?’. It has sold over 12 million copies worldwide and won numerous awards, making it the biggest-selling electronic album of all time.
Moby once regarded himself as a maligned has-been, having been dropped by his US label. He assumed he would never be successful and eventually planned to become a schoolteacher while making music in his bedroom, which he didn’t think anyone would ever listen to.
