Liverpool City Council is planning a day full of hands-on activities to help parents and carers get ready for their children’s first steps into education in the upcoming school year. The event will take place at Liverpool FC’s stadium on Friday, July 19, promising fun for young people and an opportunity for parents and carers to learn more about the support available.
Children will take part in games that promote early learning like storytelling, maths games, and creative arts and crafts that encourage problem-solving. Outdoor activities will be conducted by Merseyside Fire and Rescue and Mounted Police in Paisley Square, and indoor games and information sessions will be hosted at The Code and The Beat Hospitality Suites.
Liverpool and Everton Football Club will hold a “Mini Olympics” to promote healthy lifestyles, and parents and carers will leave with practical help for their child’s transition and emotional advice on how they can survive the daunting time the first few weeks of school can be.
Providers include Merseyside Fire and Rescue, Merseyside Police, Alder Hey Outreach Team, Anfield and Everton Children’s Centre, Anfield Community Arts, DWP Supporting Families, Benefit Maximisation Service, Road Safety Team, Library Service, LFC Foundation, Everton in the Community, Riverside Housing, Plus Dane Housing, School Nurse Service, St Columba’s Food Pantry, and The Shewsy.
