Apple TV+ has announced that Ben Stiller’s award-winning series Severance will be returning for a second season next year. The new season will premiere on January 17, 2025, with a 10-episode run. The first episode will be followed weekly by new episodes every Friday until March 21.
According to the show’s synopsis, Severance revolves around Mark Scout, played by Adam Scott, who leads a team at Lumon Industries whose employees have undergone a severance procedure. This surgical process divides their memories between their work and personal lives, resulting in a daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’. In season two, Mark and his friends will face the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.
The show’s ensemble cast, including Christopher Walken, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus and Patricia Arquette, will return for the upcoming season two. Sarah Bock will also be introduced as a new series regular. A new trailer for the season has been released to mark the announcement.
Severance’s second season was initially confirmed by Apple TV+ in April 2022, prior to the conclusion of the award-winning first season. Creator Dan Erickson has hinted at further expansion of the world and characters in the new season, promising to showcase everyone’s healing process in the aftermath of the severance procedure.
