The album ‘The Moon and The Melodies,’ which was released by Cocteau Twins in collaboration with Harold Budd in 1986, has received a remastered version and is now being reissued on vinyl. This comes about 35 years after its original release and will be available on CD format and digital platforms as well. The album is now open for pre-order at 4AD and pre-saving on digital platforms, with a release date set for August 23.
The remastering of the album was overseen by Robin Guthrie, who played a role in the album’s recording process. However, Harold Budd passed away in late 2020 at the age of 84. The band has also launched their official store, which marks the first time since 1997 that their official merchandise has been made available for purchase.
Simon Raymonde, who was a member of Cocteau Twins and was instrumental in their success, has written a memoir that will be released on September 12 via Nine Eight Books. The memoir, which is titled ‘In One Ear – Cocteau Twins, Ivor and Me,’ has been pre-ordered by Cillian Murphy and Elton John, and both music icons have praised the book for its content and historical value.
Cocteau Twins was founded in Scotland in 1979 by guitarist Robin Guthrie and bassist Will Heggie. They were later joined by Elizabeth Fraser and became popular due to their unique ethereal sound. Following Heggie’s departure in 1983, the band spent a brief period as a duo before Simon Raymonde joined them. The band went on to become one of the most influential bands of their time, inspiring and being admired by artists like Prince, Annie Lennox, Slowdive, Lush, My Bloody Valentine, and many others.
