Wunderhorse, the band comprising of Jacob Slater, Harry Fowler, Jamie Staples and Peter Woodin, have released their latest single ‘Silver’ from their forthcoming second album ‘Midas’. The song begins on crisp guitar chords and offers reflective lyrics, with Slater’s vocals confessing his crooked past and the nature of the ugliness within him. The band nearly didn’t include it within the album, as it felt out of place with the rest but eventually they were able to find the right mix in Pachyderm Studios in Minnesota.
According to Slater, “The song is about that ugly side of yourself that you try to keep a secret […] Everyone has elements of their makeup that they’d rather not admit to or keep locked away and never look at. That’s what ‘Silver’ is about. Kind of.” The music video, directed by Polocho, portrays Slater inside a dollhouse with a caged bird while someone peering through the window. The single marks the third release from ‘Midas’.
Wunderhorse’s other festival slots include Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters and TRNSMT while also becoming the headline act at Dot to Dot Festival. These festival slots precede their UK and Ireland tour in October, promoting their new album. The success of their previous album ‘Cub’ allowed the four-piece to play large festival gigs and sell out Kentish Town’s O2 Forum. ‘Midas’ is set to be released on August 30th and is available for pre-order.
Jacob Slater, regarding the creation of ‘Midas’ said, “We wanted it to sound like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers like you’ve been locked inside the bass drum.” Previously known as a solo act, Slater is joined by Fowler, Staples and Woodin as Wunderhorse matures into a fully-formed band
