The official trailer for “Gladiator II” starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington has been released today. The highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott’s Oscar-winning original sees Mescal leading a new story that centres around Lucius, the son of Connie Nielsen’s Lucilla from the first film. Nielsen will reprise her role, and the cast will also feature Pascal, Washington, and Joseph Quinn.
The trailer shows several epic battle scenes, including one where Mescal’s character fights a rhinoceros with a group of other gladiators and another with Pedro Pascal. Pascal recently admitted that he “would rather be thrown from a building” than fight Mescal again after shooting their scenes together in “Gladiator II.”
In another interview, Mescal discussed his transformation for the role, saying, “I just wanted to be big and strong and look like somebody who can cause a bit of damage when shit hits the fan… You carry yourself differently. It has an impact on you psychologically in a way that is useful for the film.”
Russell Crowe, who starred in the original film, recently expressed his discomfort with the sequel being made. “I’m slightly uncomfortable with the fact they’re making another one — because, of course, I’m dead and I have no say in what gets done… But we’ll see what that is like,” he stated.
“Gladiator II” is set to be released on November 22 worldwide. Fans of the original are eagerly anticipating the sequel and are excited to see Mescal in his first blockbuster film role
