An elderly care home in Runcorn, Cheshire has been accused of neglect after it was discovered that one resident had suffered 32 falls in less than a year. The daughter of Winifred Tubb, who lived at St Luke’s, said she had sent social services a “begging email” to warn them that her mother was in danger of dying unless improvements were made. Mrs Tubb was being looked after by the care home from June 2021 until she passed away from Covid in December 2022. The investigation found that nearly one-in-five care homes across England were rated as either “requiring improvement” or “inadequate”.
