Following photos of Abbey Road Studios in London, and what appears to be someone responding to emails on a computer, it seems that the late Mark Lanegan’s social media accounts might be hinting at a posthumous release. The photos also feature dials and a screen on a mixing board, however, no explicit details have been given.
The post’s accompanying caption reads, “We appreciate your kind & loving words over the last 2 years. There is lots of news to share with you very soon.” This is the first post that has been shared on Lanegan’s social media accounts since his passing in 2022.
As the frontman of Screaming Trees from 1985 to 2000, grunge icon Lanegan was also known for his collaborations with various bands, like Queens of the Stone Age, Mad Season, and The Gutter Twins. His contributions to the music industry have been felt all over the world, with a multitude of people sending their condolences on social media after his untimely passing.
Lanegan’s 12th solo album, Straight Songs Of Sorrow, was released in 2020 and received critical acclaim, with NME describing it as “open and viscerally honest.” Another memoir, Devil In A Coma, was released in December 2021, in which the musician shared his personal near-death experience with COVID-19 through prose and poetry.
It remains to be seen what the posthumous release teased on Mark Lanegan’s social media accounts will be. However, it is sure to be a celebration of the beloved and talented musician
