Kendrick Lamar unveils victorious music video for Drake diss ‘Not Like Us’

Kendrick Lamar has released a music video for his diss track ‘Not Like Us’, seemingly claiming victory in his beef with Drake. Directed by Lamar and pgLang co-founder Dave Free, the visualiser features a range of cameos from DJ Mustard to Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. Lamar’s fiancee Whitney Alford and their children also appear in the video, potentially responding to Drake’s allegations of domestic violence and questioning the couple’s relationship.

The victorious video sees Lamar doing 17 push-ups in response to Drake’s ‘Push-ups’ track, destroying an owl piñata with a message stating that “no OVhoes were harmed in the making of this video”, and singing “A-minorrr” while playing hop-scotch. The owl imagery continues throughout the clip, with a metaphorical reference made in the closing shot to Drake’s OVO label. Footage from Lamar’s Juneteenth show at Inglewood, where he played ‘Not Like Us’ five times, also features prominently in the video, showcasing the West Coast rap scene’s unity.

Fans have eagerly awaited a response from Lamar following Drake’s ‘Family Matters’ diss track, which caused rumours of a rift between the two. However, the music video suggests Lamar has prevailed in the feud, although Drake has yet to respond directly. Check out the full video for ‘Not Like Us’ online.
