JT announces her first mixtape since City Girls split, ‘City Cinderella’

City Girls’ JT shared that she will soon release her debut mixtape “City Cinderella,” representing her first release after parting ways with her former bandmate, Yung Miami. The rap star has been teasing her first solo LP since March and revealed the cover art for the upcoming album this week while confirming its release date through an Instagram post. The album’s cover art shows JT lying naked, with her lower half made up of ice while a glass slipper is placed in its proximity, and the artist wears a crown to allude to the classic tale of Cinderella.

SZA, showing her support in the comments, stated “JATAVID over… his ARTWORK!!??? UR MIND UR WILLINGNESS TO PUSH THE ENVELOPE over and over.” JT and Yung Miami formed the rap duo “City Girls” in 2017 and became famously known for their explicit style of rap, earning multiple “Billboard”-charting singles. They released their final album, “RAW” in October 2020 before disbanding earlier this year. The two musicians recently featured as solo artists in Camila Cabello’s latest album, “C, XOXO.”

Following the announcement of their split, Yung Miami credited the split to their failures in their album “City Girls,” the rollout of which was “just so bad.” In addition, the two were in different spaces, with Yung Miami in the West Coast, and JT in Miami, hence, creating a division in the group.

After being imprisoned for credit card fraud in 2018, JT released her debut single “First Day Out,” followed by the fourth preview for “RAW” titled “No Bars.” The song gained fame on TikTok. This year, JT released two more songs, “Sideways” and “Okay,” which also became viral on the platform. “City Cinderella” is set to drop on July 19 under Quality Control/Motown Records, and it features JT’s popular hit singles “Sideways” and “Okay.” Fans can pre-save the mixtape on the provided link. Additionally, JT has urged fans to share excerpts of “Okay” on TikTok after Universal Music Group removed all artists’ music from the platform earlier this year
