Following more than seven years in operation, Manchester nightclub Partisan Collective will be closing its doors on July 31, 2024, citing “rising costs and the demands of running a full-time club” as the main reason for the closure. The venue, which has been battling with financial struggles, shared the news on Instagram, stating that “those members who came to our last general meeting collectively decided to close the space.”

In the same post, the Collective shared their worries and concerns about the venue ceasing to exist entirely. Partisan Collective has decided not to renew their license, which is why they will be closing their doors permanently. They said that “this wasn’t an easy decision,” and that they are grateful to everyone who has been a part of their journey so far.

Nightclubs and venues across the UK have been impacted significantly in recent years, with a number of nightclubs shutting each week. A report by the NTIA reveals that the UK has lost five nightclubs every week this year, highlighting the difficulties the industry has been facing.

Partisan Collective has been described as a club that aims to provide a safe space, free of harassment and discrimination. According to its website, the venue aimed to create “a space for socialising, for sharing ideas, and for collective action.”

The news has saddened many in Manchester’s vibrant nightlife scene who saw Partisan Collective as an institution and a representation of the unadulterated passion and love for music and club culture
