Kevin Bacon went out in public in disguise and hated it: “This sucks”

Actor Kevin Bacon recently shared details about a recent attempt he made to go incognito in public. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Bacon revealed that he worked with a special effects makeup artist to create a prosthetic disguise of fake teeth, glasses, and nose to help him blend in with crowds while he was in Los Angeles. The disguise made him look similar to his character in the horror film, maXXXine, which was directed by Ti West.

The actor then went to the Grove, an outdoor shopping mall in Los Angeles, wearing the prosthetic disguise. However, he quickly discovered that being incognito wasn’t as glamorous as he thought it would be. People pushed past him, and no one recognized him or expressed their admiration for his work. Bacon even had to wait in line like everyone else to order a cup of coffee, which led him to think that he missed being famous.

This isn’t the first time Bacon has explored invisibility. In the film, Hollow Man, which was released in 2000, Bacon played the role of Dr. Sebastian Caine, a molecular biologist who developed an invisibility serum. During the interview, Bacon also talked about his experience playing the character of Willie O’Keefe in the 1991 political drama, JFK, which helped establish his reputation as a versatile actor.

Bacon explained that he was initially perceived as a pop star actor because of his performance in Footloose and the movies he did early in his career. However, he decided to accept the role in maXXXine despite any perceived risks to his reputation. Bacon believes that taking risks and playing diverse roles has helped him maintain his longevity in the entertainment industry.

In March of this year, Bacon announced that he planned to attend the final prom held at Payson High School in Arizona. The school is where the fictitious Bomont High, featured in Footloose, was set. Bacon’s decision to attend came after a months-long campaign by students when the school decided to relocate from its original location since 1967
