FKA Twigs stunned the audience of a London benefit concert in support of Gaza and Sudan, performing a stunning rendition of ‘Cellophane’. The charity show was organized by Mustafa, a Sudanese-Canadian artist, as part of collective Artists For Aid, with all proceeds going towards War Child UK’s Response Plan in Gaza and Sudan. The charity aims to provide food, water, hygiene-based aid, and education and mental health care to over 120,000 children affected by the crises in these countries.
The Troxy theater was packed with audiences as various artists took to the stage, including Bint Mbareh, Daniel Caesar, Earl Sweatshirt, Nicolás Jaar, and Yasiin Bey. Clairo also performed alongside Mustafa in a duet, while comedian Ramy Youssef was also part of the proceedings.
This benefit concert follows a similar event organized by Mustafa earlier this year in New Jersey for the same cause, featuring artists such as Stormzy, Faye Webster, Omar Apollo, Daniel Caesar, and Ramy Youssef.
FKA Twigs is currently involved in a legal battle with her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, which is scheduled for a court trial in October this year. She also indefinitely postponed plans for the follow-up to her 2022 release ‘CAPRISONGS’ last year after revealing that 85 of her demos had been leaked. However, she is slated to play the mother of Jesus in an upcoming horror film, The Carpenter’s Son, alongside Nicolas Cage.
The charity concert is a testament to the power of art to bring about positive change in the world. With music and comedy, the event managed to raise awareness about the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Sudan, bringing together people from different walks of life to support a common cause
