Country musician Darius Rucker has called on the country music industry to forgive Morgan Wallen following the star’s use of a racial slur. Rucker spoke out during an appearance on Rolling Stone’s Music Now podcast, stating that Wallen had shown significant personal growth since the incident earlier this year. The now-notorious video saw Wallen using the n-word, which led to him being dropped by radio stations and playlists across the US and UK.
Rucker, who has known Wallen for some time, praised the latter’s desire to better himself and see the world “in a much better way”. Rucker criticized the industry for not recognizing Wallen’s continued success and believes that the singer should be up for Entertainer of the Year and other accolades.
