The third volume of the official soundtrack for Fatshark’s co-op shooter ‘Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’ will be released on streaming services tomorrow (July 4). Jesper Kyd, who composed the score, revealed that he wanted to create a truly unique and atmospheric sound that would suit the game’s aesthetics. This resulted in an adrenaline-fueled soundtrack that evokes a sense of intensity during combat.
The EP, titled ‘Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Volume 3,’ features six tracks including ‘Derelict Research,’ which is currently available to listen to exclusively on NME’s website. The track is designed for intense boss and combat scenes, with vintage synths and step sequencers providing a unique, machine-like sound. Kyd used real electronic instruments, many of which were performed live and then manipulated using plugins to get them just right.
In addition to the music, the ‘Secrets Of The Machine God’ update brought new weapons to the game, including the iconic bolt pistol, shock mauls, pickaxes, and a new double-barreled shotgun. Players now have a new mission, ‘Clandestium Gloriana,’ which asks them to explore a derelict Mechanicus research station.
The update also fixes bugs, adds quality-of-life updates, and introduces a new in-game event. Fans can view the full patch notes on the game’s official forums
