Ann Wilson, the lead singer of Heart, is undergoing cancer treatment, causing the band to postpone the remainder of their 2024 performance dates. The band did not provide specific details on Wilson’s condition, but encouraged fans to hold on to their tickets, which will be honoured for rescheduled shows.
Wilson shared a message to fans explaining that she had undergone a “time-sensitive” medical procedure in late May to remove a cancerous growth. Although the operation was successful and Wilson is feeling great, her doctors have advised that she undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, which will require the singer to take the remainder of the year off from performing.
Wilson assured fans that she plans to return to the stage in 2025 and expressed her gratitude for the support and well-wishes she has received so far. Heart had previously cancelled their European shows in May so that Wilson could have her procedure.
Heart rose to fame in the 1970s, with hits like “Barracuda,” “Crazy on You,” and “Magic Man.” Wilson was known for her powerful vocals and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
In recent years, Heart has continued to tour and have fun with their music, even performing an ’80s hit with Jimmy Fallon on his late-night show in April to mark a solar eclipse.
