Mayan Warrior, the Mexican art car and sound system, will throw a Halloween event in collaboration with the LA collective Stranger Than on October 26 in the city. Stranger Than has made a name for itself by organising innovative events in unique urban spaces – the event will mark Mayan Warrior’s first event in the city. The latest art car offering, called Mayan Warrior Galaxyer, follows on from its debut earlier this year at Burning Man. The new car is a ‘feat of engineering’, fusing “ancient artistry with state-of-the-art technology”, including 400 W lasers and a d&b KLS sound system that is nearly twice as powerful as the previous model.
The new car replaces the original Mayan Warrior art car which was destroyed last year after catching fire. A staple of Burning Man since its inception in 2012, as well as growing into a popular touring event showcasing Mexican and international music talent, the car is meant to symbolise the soul of “the last Mayan Warrior travelling through space, time, and the cosmos”, with Mayan Warrior founder Pablo Gonzales Vargas saying, “Let this be a portal to higher alternate states of consciousness of transcendental self-discovery.”
Mayan Warrior is set to announce additional dates later this year, with events planned in Miami and Tulum. Tickets for Mayan Warrior Los Angeles go on sale on July 10 at 12 pm PST
