Eminem has announced the release date for his 12th studio album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’, which had been eagerly awaited by fans. A new trailer posted by the rapper on July 2 shows a woman giving birth to a baby, who soon begins displaying demonic attributes, with the album’s release date confirmed for July 12, 2024.
In advance of the album’s release, Eminem will be releasing the record’s second single titled ‘Tobey’ featuring Big Sean and BabyTron on July 2nd. A music video will be released on July 5th. This follows on from the May 31 release of ‘Houdini’, which interpolates a number of Eminem’s previous hits along with ‘Abracadabra’ by the Steve Miller Band. There was controversy surrounding the song as it references the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, as well as the transgender community, cancel culture, and RuPaul.
Eminem’s new single ‘Tobey’ is his first collaboration with BabyTron and his fourth with Big Sean. The two have previously worked together on the tracks ‘No Favors’, ‘Friday Night Cypher’ and ‘Detroit Vs. Everybody’.
The album release comes after Eminem’s last studio album, ‘Music to Be Murdered By’, which was released in January 2020. The album received a three-star review from NME, in which it was suggested that it offered casual fans a few hooks before Eminem embarked on another lyrical performance.
