Dead Rising, the classic 2006 zombie game, is getting a Deluxe Remaster, according to Capcom. Set in a zombie-infested shopping mall, players follow photojournalist Frank West as he tries to escape in three days. The new release will come with updated graphics, on the RE engine, and several quality of life features.
The original game featured weapon combining, allowing players to combine various everyday objects found around the mall into new weapons. Items included an air horn made from a safety cone and spray paint, and the blam bow, created from a bow and arrow combined with dynamite. Each weapon had a finite number of hits or a limited amount of ammunition.
Dead Rising was also known for its use of gameplay tricks. Players were able to heat kitchenware on a stove to boost its damage output, and there were different costumes that could give Frank different bonuses.
The game was exclusive to Xbox 360, and the remastered version will be released on September 18, 2024. In other gaming news, a new GTA Online paywall has angered fans and raised questions about the potential future of monetization in GTA 6
