Liverpool City Council has partnered with the Liverpool Parent Carer Forum (LivPaC) for the Local Offer LIVE Event. The event provides a big opportunity for families to connect with professional organizations that support children and youths with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Liverpool Guild of Students at the University of Liverpool will host the event on July 3rd, 2019 between 12 pm and 6 pm. The event aims to provide information about the various services available to families, which includes training programs, employment support, independent living skills, and more.
The Local Offer LIVE Event will bring the Liverpool City Council’s online service to life, so families can communicate with the support providers in person and learn about new opportunities that could be beneficial for both themselves and their families. The event will also enable professionals to network with various organizations, which will aid in improving how they support families through collaborations.
Jenny Turnross, Director for Children’s and Young People Service, said “We are thrilled to be partnering again with Liverpool Parent Carer Forum to host our annual marketplace event for families with children and young people who have special educational needs and disabilities. This event is a fantastic opportunity for families to connect with each other and with professionals who provide support and care. It is our priority to continue to build a network of support that empowers our families and helps our children to thrive.”
Donna Phipps, Chair for Liverpool Parent and Carer Forum and mother to Kieran, who has complex needs, stated, “We are excited to bring the Local Offer LIVE back so parents can use it as a platform to find out more about services in the city. It takes parents on the journey of a child’s life from education, children’s centers to short breaks, employment, and looking into the future for young people. At LivPaC we’re passionate about getting better outcomes for our children and young people. Our organization volunteers alongside myself, have children and young people who have SEND, so we understand the need for advice and support for families, and we are sharing that information to help others.”
