SZA has thanked those “doing that shit” in the public eye after her divisive Glastonbury headline performance. The artist appeared on the Pyramid Stage on 30 June, with many social media users claiming that she was plagued by technical difficulties. Even when the sound improved, some users noted that the crowds were smaller than for fellow headliners Coldplay and Dua Lipa. Reviewing her set, NME commentators suggested that it was “hypnotic and potent” but not without its flaws. SZA closed the festival with ’20 Something.’
Paloma Faith, who performed at the Pyramid stage before SZA, paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse with a cover of ‘Back to Black.’ Other festival highlights included an “eruptive” set by Gossip, who also criticised the US government. No official dates have yet been confirmed for Glastonbury 2024.
